GLLC Leadership

GLLC officers and members of the Executive Committee are elected for terms of two years. Elections take place at the GLLC Annual Meeting in even-numbered years. Past chairs and the chairs of any committees or task forces serve as ex-officio members of the Executive Committee.

Sen. Ed Charbonneau, Indiana

Chair

Elected in 2018 to the position of chair, Sen. Charbonneau has been a GLLC member since 2012. Sen. Charbonneau serves on the GLLC’s Task Force on Lead.

Rep. Robyn Gabel, Illinois

Vice Chair

Rep. Gabel has been a GLLC leader since first being elected to the Executive Committee in 2012. She is serving her first term as vice chair. Rep. Gabel is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Lead.

Sen. Fine is serving her first term as a member of the GLLC’s Executive Committee. She also is a member of the Task Force on Lead.

Sen. Rick Niemeyer, Indiana

Sen. Niemeyer is serving his first term on the Executive Committee. He has been a GLLC member since 2016.

Sen. Curtis VanderWall, Michigan

Sen. VanderWall is serving his first term as a member of the GLLC’s Executive Committee. In 2019, he was part of the inaugural class of Birkholz Fellows and now serves on the GLLC’s Task Force on Nutrient Management. Sen. VanderWall also is a member of the Task Force on Lead.

Rep. Jennifer Schultz, Minnesota

Rep. Schultz is serving her second term as Minnesota’s elected representative on the Executive Committee. She is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Lead.

Assemblyman Peter Lawrence, New York

Assemblyman Lawrence is serving his second term representing New York on the Executive Committee.

Rep. Michael Sheehy, Ohio

Executive Committee Member Representing Ohio

Rep. Sheehy is serving his first term on the Executive Committee. He was a member of the inaugural class of Birkholz Fellows in 2019, served on the Birkholz Institute Steering Committee, and is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Nutrient Management and the Task Force on Lead.

MPP Jennifer French, Ontario

MPP French has been a GLLC member since 2018 and is serving her first term on the Executive Committee. A member of the inaugural class of Birkholz Fellows, MPP French serves on the Task Force on Nutrient Management and the Task Force on Lead.

Rep. Curt Sonney, Pennsylvania

Executive Committee Member Representing Pennsylvania

Rep. Sonney has represented Pennsylvania on the Executive Committee since 2012. He is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Lead.

MNA Gilles Bélanger, Québec

Executive Committee Member Representing Québec

MNA Bélanger was elected to the Executive Committee in 2018. He represented Québec at the inaugural Birkholz Institute and is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Nutrient Management.

Rep. Beth Meyers, Wisconsin

A GLLC member since 2016, Rep. Meyers is in her first term as a member of the Executive Committee.

Sen. Ann Rest, Minnesota

Past Chair

Sen. Rest was the first chair of the Caucus to be elected by the members following the adoption of rules in 2011. She served two terms from 2013-2016. Sen. Rest is a member of the GLLC’s Task Force on Lead, served on the Birkholz Institute Steering Committee in 2019, and, as past chair, serves ex-officio on the Executive Committee.

Sen. André Jacque, Wisconsin

Chair, Task Force on Nutrient Management

Sen. Jacque has been a member of the GLLC since 2017. He served on the Birkholz Institute Steering Committee in 2019 and participated in the institute as a Birkholz Fellow. As chair of the GLLC’s Task Force on Nutrient Management, Sen. Jacque serves ex-officio on the Executive Committee.
